A Full-Day Conference for Video Professionals

The DV Expo East Conference is designed for intermediate to advanced video professionals who seek to maximize their creativity and efficiency on their tools of practice.

The conference will feature 2 half-day, hands-off sessions, including Intro to 4k Workflow and HDSLR Cinematography. Sessions are taught by FMC's Certified Instructor Yan Shvalb.

Intro to 4k Workflow: Everything You Need to Know to Start Shooting, Editing & Delivering Content in 4k and Beyond.

Time: 9:30AM - 12:30PM
Description: From start to finish, in this session you learn what it takes to shoot edit and deliver in resolutions beyond 4k. We will look at cameras, workflow and post to get the highest resolution and production value from your content. Topics will include hardware and software, online vs. offline, compression and advanced finishing techniques. Everyone involved in production and post-production looking to benefit from resolutions beyond HD should come to his session.

HDSLR Cinematography: Getting the Most out of Your DSLR to Create Stunning Cinematic Scenes.

Time: 1:30PM - 4:30PM
Description: In this session we go beyond the basics and focus on the strengths and weaknesses of using DSLR cameras to produce content. Topics will include optimal settings, post workflow, working around limitations and even firmware modification. By the end of this session you will be able to tap in to the potential that your HDSLR has to offer in creating some of the most desirable looking video available. This session is beneficial for anyone looking to get into video production or to raise the bar in their existing workflow to take advantage of the industry trend of using HDSLRs for video.

Yan Shvalb developed his skills in the digital arts through commercial work, teaching and consulting. Yan ran a DVD authoring facility at General TV Network and served as chief technical officer and CIO at Inflight Online. His company, VizualFX, offers custom training, contract video services, DVD authoring and consulting for workflow design and other production and post-production processes. You can also find him teaching at FMC and NYU or speaking events like NAB, Siggraph and Macworld.
