Workshops at Digital Video Expo 2012

AbelCine has been working with film and digital equipment for over 20 years and has extended this knowledge to build the Training Department. This department is designed to offer training at the highest level of production equipment available today. On September 19-21 the Training Department at AbelCine will offer the following workshops at Digital Video Expo West 2012.

The Hows and Whys of Lighting: The first part of the workshop begins with the basic properties of light and then moves into the physical fixtures and light sources within them. Part two expands upon styles and motivations of lighting practice, moving into practical examples and participatory workshops. This is a full day workshop with a price tag of $275 per person.

HD Frame Rates, Color, and Compression: This workshop focuses on the many different HD video formats. The course is designed to give shooters, producers, and editors a better understanding of the video formats available today and how they compare with each other. This is a half-day workshop with a price tag of $150.

On Set Workflows and Media Management: This workshop focuses on the many different workflows used today. From the most compressed digital formats to the highest end digital acquisition formats, this class gives a wide overview of popular and preferred workflow methods. Special attention is given to understanding computer file systems, data management practices, naming conventions, and NLE importing. This is a half-�day workshop with a price tag of $150.

Intro to Digital Cinema - Raw, Log, and Uncompressed: This workshop focuses on the latest digital cinema cameras in use today. From the new BlackMagic Cinema Camera all the way up to the Red Epic and Sony F65, this class gives an overview of modern digital cinema cameras. Focus is on understanding and working with Raw and Log based camera systems, both on set and in post. This is a half-day workshop with a price tag of $150.

Choosing the Right Camera: This class is focused on the differences between many different camera formats and their respective workflows. Topics for comparing cameras include sensor size, resolution, form factor, lens choices, recording media & compression, workflows, and price. With these factors in mind we break down several different shooting scenarios and compare camera capabilities and performance. This is a half day workshop with a price tag of $150.
