Visionary Filmmaker Douglas Trumbull to Headline DV EXPO WEST
DV EXPO WEST is pleased to announce the addition of Douglas Trumbull, visionary filmmaker, innovator and entrepreneur--as the keynote speaker for DV EXPO WEST 2002.
The keynote will take place Tuesday, December 10, 2020 from 9:00 A.M. - 10:00 A.M., just prior to the opening of the 2002 DV EXPO WEST exhibit floor.
Trumbull's early career included pioneering work as one of four photographic effects supervisors on 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, which won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects in 1968.
He subsequently influenced moviegoers around the world with stunning visual effects for films such as THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, STAR TREK THE MOTION PICTURE, and BLADE RUNNER.
He also directed SILENT RUNNING and BRAINSTORM.
Trumbull, an outspoken technologist and innovator, states that his "next films will be all digital, all electronic cinematography, all virtual sets," and he's devoting his time and efforts to ensure the technology exists to achieve this vision.
At DV EXPO WEST, Trumbull will discuss the different technologies he's developing, and will address how these and other advances will revolutionize production and enhance creative input by allowing for high impact digital projects at very reduced costs.

For the third straight year, DV EXPO WEST will host its annual DV FILM FESTIVAL. Enjoy a big-screen presentation of digitally created,
independent, professional shorts and exemplary works from aspiring DV filmmakers.
Each night will be hosted by a special guest - Join representatives from the Orphanage on Tuesday night as they give their insights on DV filmmaking, Magic Bullet, and showcase current and upcoming Orphanage projects.
On Wednesday, check out Jake Abraham, InDigEnt's Director of Post Production, as he introduces the evening with his favorite works and upcoming projects from InDigEnt.
