10:30am AVCCAM Workshop: Affordable, Next-Generation HD (Room 503)
Videographer Bernie Mitchell, president of Silver Platter Productions,
presents attendees with an overview of AVCCAM, Panasonic¹s affordable,
professional solid-state AVCHD solution for acquisition. Mitchell will
demonstrate the new AG-HMC150, a 3-CCD handheld production camcorder
that captures HD images in 1080 or 720p on SD cards.

Former President of Cinematographer's Guild Local 600 and current ASC Education Committee chair to moderate four discussion sessions at the show. The DV Expo's Master Classes in Lighting will be led by a master of the craft of cinematography: veteran director of photography George Spiro Dibie, ASC. The four Master Classes will each feature a different top cinematographer who will show clips from recent projects and discuss how the lighting was accomplished — also taking questions from the audience at hand. Dibie will serve as the host and moderator for the four sessions.

The Slamdance Film Festival presents a selection of award-winning short
films, showcasing emerging directors working within the creative
confines of limited budgets. Started in 1995 by a group of independent
artists, the Slamdance Film Festival continues to be organized and
programmed exclusively by filmmakers, for filmmakers.
5:30pm Digital Cinema Society After Dark Por Que 4K? The DCS explores 4K for production, post and
exhibition in this special event. Society President James Mathers will
lead a discussion that features special guests including RED's Ted
Schilowitz, Dalsa's Rob Hummel, and Sony's Steve Banaszek.
7:30pm LAFCPUG; LIVE!
Michael Horton and his expert team from the Los Angeles Final Cut Pro
Users Group offer attendees a night of presentations, panels and, yes,
prizes, Scheduled to appear will be the folks from DigitalFilm Tree who
will show attendees how they online the hit Showtime series, Weeds,
sing FCP; Philip Hodgetts who will debut another tool as part of his
Intelligent Assistant First Cuts for FCP software; FCS Guru Larry
Jordan, who will provide FCP Tips and tricks. Also scheduled will be a
show-and-tell from filmmaker Michael Addis, who recently completed the
critically acclaimed documentary Heckler, starring comedian Jamie
Kennedy.
